Piping is the circulatory system of a process plant, connecting reactors, exchangers, tanks, and pumps into a working whole. Roben Manufacturing designs and fabricates process piping to the applicable ASME B31 standards and integrates it with the vessels and equipment we build, delivering connected systems rather than disconnected components.
When piping is fabricated by the same shop that builds the vessels it connects, the interfaces line up and the system goes together cleanly. We bring piping into our complete-system projects so that what arrives on site is ready to install and commission.
Piping Engineered to Connect the System
Process piping is designed to the appropriate ASME B31 code for the service — pressure, temperature, fluid, and category all factor into the design. We size the piping, select the materials and components, and design the routing so that the system handles its flow with acceptable pressure drop and accommodates thermal expansion without overstressing the connected equipment.
Material selection follows the service, just as with our vessels: carbon steel for general duty, stainless and duplex grades for corrosion resistance, and nickel alloys for aggressive media. Fabricating piping in the same materials and to the same welding standards as the connected vessels ensures compatibility throughout the system.
Thermal expansion and equipment loads are central to good piping design. Piping that is too stiff transmits damaging loads to the nozzles of the equipment it connects, while well-designed piping accommodates movement and limits the loads on vessels and exchangers. We coordinate the piping with the equipment so nozzle loads stay within allowable limits.
Fabricated piping spools are produced in our shop, where welding and inspection are controlled, and integrated with the vessels and skids in the same project. The system arrives with coordinated documentation and interfaces that fit, reducing field welding and speeding installation.
