An agitator is not a bolt-on accessory; it imposes loads on the vessel, requires a sealed penetration, and must be matched to the fluid and the mixing objective. We treat the agitator and the vessel as one design problem so the finished reactor mixes effectively and runs reliably.
Mixing Integrated With the Vessel
The mixing objective drives the design. Blending miscible liquids, suspending solids, dispersing a gas, promoting heat transfer, or carrying out a reaction each calls for a particular impeller type, speed, and power. We coordinate the selection of the impeller and the agitator's speed and power to the fluid properties and the mixing duty so the vessel achieves the intended result.
The agitator shaft enters the vessel through a sealed nozzle, and that penetration is part of the vessel's pressure boundary. We design and reinforce the mounting nozzle, accommodate the shaft seal — packing or mechanical seal as the service requires — and ensure the assembly maintains the vessel's integrity and containment.
Agitation imposes mechanical loads. The rotating shaft and impeller create torque, bending, and vibration that the vessel, its supports, and any internal baffles must withstand. We account for these loads in the vessel design and add baffles where they are needed to prevent swirling and improve mixing effectiveness.
By integrating the agitator with the vessel from the start, we deliver a reactor where the mixing system, the pressure boundary, and the supports all work together. The complete unit arrives coordinated, with the agitation system fitted and the documentation covering the integrated assembly.
